My name is Annika Göransson and I currently study at the Danish Design School. My focus is on furniture- and industrial design but my interests cover lightning- and spatial design as well.

Ostrea is my latest piece and is my modern version of the 19th century’s upholstery furniture. Inspired by oysters I have worked with the meeting between a smooth and a rough surface. The orange thread accentuates the organic shape and defines the flexible part of the sofa.

Ostrea is the result of an upholstery project/challenge I took part in during spring 2010 at the Danish Design School. The challenge was an initiative from the Upholstery Guild in Copenhagen who celebrates 550 years this year. Ostrea was named winner of the competition on the 7th of April 2010 in the City Hall of Copenhagen.
